If you haven’t heard of our new production collaboration ‘The Red Collective’ – where have you been? Our most recent release is Drama Queen, and we’re so excited to introduce it to you! Full of elegance, intensity, grit and storytelling, ASX’s Lead Orchestral Producer Jim Hustwit breaks down the making of our new Drama Queen albums!
What Is Drama Queen?
Drama Queen is an orchestral creation designed for scoring dramas, and is split into two albums: Pomp & Splendor and Grit & Grime. This duality allows the producers within the collective to explore refinement, drama and the dark flip side of prim and proper characters.

Pomp & Splendor is melodramatic, classical elegance wrapped up in pompous, cinematic exceptionalism. This is the ballroom waltz of orchestral trailer music, without the peasants banging on the castle door, so tell the butler you’ll have another, and enjoy the comforts of Hollywood royalty from the banks of the Thames. Fans of the Sherlock Holmes series and Knives Out will live for this pure, cinematic bliss!

Grit & Grime represents the opposite end of the spectrum. This bricky, batty-fang orchestral madness possesses the same Victorian flair as her sister album. But this gritty and grimy, fog-soaked cinematic storyline is perfect for the old East End, turn of the century Cockney gangsters and brilliant criminal detectives. Fans of The Crown and Sherlock Holmes are sure to love it!
Who Are The Red Collective?

The Red Collective is an innovative group of elite producers and writers who create authentic and original bespoke music for ad agencies, trailer houses, music supervisors and more!
Born out of the Covid-19 pandemic, The Red Collective was created as a way to support our artist community in a creative way during lockdown. ASX hosted a “Writing for Sync” Masterclass, which paired artists in collaborative pods to share techniques and feedback. Hip Hop artists found themselves working with cinematic orchestrators and DJ’s found themselves paired with songwriters. The artists found value in the community and collaborations and their dynamic output was nothing shy of epic!
The team creates within small pods, with each member of the “pod” bringing their own unique skill to the collaboration, meaning there’s a wide range of styles and a mix of various talents and skill sets at play.
